  • Where are you located?

FlannelJax's Grand Rapids is located at 601 Lake Michigan Drive, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. Right on the corner of Seward Ave., NW.

  • When are you open?

FlannelJax's is open Wednesdays from 11am to 10pm, Thursdays to Saturdays from 11am to 11pm and Sundays from 11am to 8pm.

  • How can I get to FlannelJax's using public transportation?

The Dash Bus Line will drop you off directly in front of FlannelJax’s. Just get dropped off at any of the three stops on Seward Ave.

  • Do you serve alcohol?

Unfortunately we do not serve alcohol at FlannelJax's Grand Rapids, but we are working on getting our liquor license. We also do not allow outside alcohol.

  • What should I wear Axe Throwing?

You'll want to wear something comfortable that allows for movement. The only requirement we have is that you must wear closed toe shoes.

  • Is Axe Throwing Safe?

Yes - and safety is a huge priority for everyone at FlannelJax's Grand Rapids. Our games are exciting but not dangerous, and our trained Lumberjacks are on hand to make sure everyone is playing safe.

  • How old do I need to be to go Axe Throwing?

We do have an age limit at FlannelJax’s. We don’t want your youngsters getting hurt, so participants are required to be 18 years and older. Participants aged 13-17 are eligible to go axe throwing if accompanied by an adult.

  • How many people do I need for Axe Throwing?

FlannelJax's Axe Throwing works best with a group of at least 4 people, but we can accommodate as few as 2 or over 100 people.

  • Do I have to throw axes with other people?

It depends on your group size. Smaller groups may be combined with others during our busiest times, while groups of 6 or more will always have a private lane when they pre-book. If you're choosing to walk-in, you may be grouped with others depending on how busy we are.

  • What is the difference between a private group and walk-in session?

A private group needs 6 or more people which will get you your own lane and our trained Lumberjacks will teach you the games, you need to keep your scores though. Walk-in sessions are better for smaller groups and -- depending on availability -- you may be combined with other groups.

  • Can I come and just watch?

Absolutely! If you're not interested in throwing, you can just watch others in your group. You will have to sign the waiver like everyone else though.

  • What type of Axe Throwing games can we play?

FlannelJax's has about 30 different Axe Throwing games and challenges. We usually start off with some easier ones while everyone gets the hang of Axe Throwing, then get more advanced as your group gets better.

  • Can I bring my own axe?

Sorry, but no. Everyone must use the axes we provide to makes sure the playing field is level (and for a bunch of boring legal reasons).

  • What kind of axe do you use for Axe Throwing?

At FlannelJax's we use 2 1/2 pound camp hatchets.

  • Is there music playing during our Axe Throwing session?

Of course! We always have some great music playing the whole time.

  • Is there heating / air conditioning?

Yes - we keep our Lumber Camp at a comfortable temperature all year long.
